1955 History Page for the Church of Peace

It all started during the year of 1954. That year,  the Board of Missions of the Minnesota Conference of the Evangelical United Brethren Church selected as it's Centennial Missionary Project a local need, with Richfield as a prime possibility.

On October 9, 1955, the project of a new Evangelical United Brethren Church in the growing suburb of Richfield was approved by the Board of Missions. The Reverend Lowell Reinking was transferred from Redwood Falls to become the first pastor of the Church of Peace. The first worship service was held in the Sheridan Elementary School. The Sunday School and Worship Services were held simultaneously to begin with and on that first Sunday there were 16 in Sunday School and 17 in Worship Service.

December 16, 1955, the Board of Missions purchased eight lots at the present site and on February 14, 1956 the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Peace was formally organized.
